Tucker & Co's Story
Howdy!
My name is Sophie Mudge and I am the owner of Tucker & Co! Tucker & Co has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember and I can't believe it has come true! Some of my favorite things include animals, gardening, anything that involves DIY, crafts, flowers, or being creative in any way, peach tea, baseball, the 4th of July, and Sonic!
Tucker & Co's logo is a painting of Tucker, one of my childhood horses, and it was done by my Grandma. She is my hero and inspiration and I don't know what I would do without her! (If you're in the New Braunfels area, you can shop her artwork at the Gallerie in Gruene, TX or at the New Braunfels Art League downtown). My other Grandma is also very creative and is an amazing seamstress. She used to make headbands and accessories all the time. Some local boutiques used to carry her stuff and she would take me with her when she would go to bring them new products. Little Sophie always knew I would have a boutique of my own one day. Both my Grandmothers have strongly influenced my creativity. Then, of course, there's Tucker. Tucker was one of those once in a lifetime horses, if you know, you know. He was something special and he sparked my love for horses and riding. I grew up riding both English and Western, so you'll see pieces inspired by both of those worlds in the shop!
Another special thing, Tucker's portrait that is in our logo was based off of a picture of me, my Grandfather, and Tucker. My Grandfather was also one of my heroes and sadly, he and Tucker have both passed within the past few years, but I am so grateful I get to have a little part of each of them, and my Grandma, in this business forever. They are the best souls I've ever known, and I hope Tucker & Co can be a reflection of who they were, and who my Grandma is.
I graduated from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) in the Spring with a degree in Communication, a minor in Agribusiness Entrepreneurship, and certificates in Social Media and Professional Event Management. I took this dream to Dr. Rister and the Dianne and M. Edward Rister '74 Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, and he helped me develop a business plan. Many sleepless nights later, I presented it at the Texas Farm Credit Entrepreneurial Dreams Symposium and met so many amazing mentors.
I had so much help along the way, and I hope I can be a source of support for others as well. God has blessed me with some really amazing people, and I hope to be a light and more than anything, I want Tucker & Co to be a source of community and friendship. I hope it is a place where small businesses can connect with each other and with customers. I also hope to plan lots of events in the future so stay tuned!
With that being said, if you are a small business, artisan, or creative and you would like to collaborate somehow, plan a content day, an event, have your product be featured on the site, or even just be friends, please reach out!
Love,
Sophie <3
